Anyone can repair or replace their own roof, check out DIY websites they show how simple it is. … We never recommend a homeowner get on their roof, much less try to repair or replace it. If you don’t know what you are doing you can do much more damage to your roof and possibly to yourself.

Just because you have a few damaged shingles or a bit of a leak, don’t automatically assume that you need a whole new roof. If your roof has been properly installed and is younger than 15 or 20 years old, it may get by with repairs rather than a full replacement.

The combination of a ridge vent along with continuous soffit vents gives you a flow through of air similar to the way a chimney works. Even without soffit vents, a ridge vent is much more effective than gable vents.

For residential homes, roof replacements will usually take two days. The first day is to remove the existing roof from the building. The second day is to install the roof. Depending on the size of the roof a day or two longer may be necessary.

Synthetic underlayment is much more tear-resistant when exposed to high winds and foot traffic than asphalt felt underlayment. Since synthetics do not absorb moisture, they are resistant to fungal growth and are wrinkle-free. Synthetic underlayments are ultraviolet (UV) resistant for between six and twelve months.
